Summer is camp season. We were proud to award the LJS-George Mason Jazz Camp Scholarship to Colin Moore. Colin is a bassist and graduating senior from Briar Woods High School. Colin contributed greatly to the George Mason Jazz Camp performing in the top ensembles. This scholarship was generously sponsored by the Al Webber Jazz Fund hosted by the Community Foundation of Loudoun and Fauquier Counties.

Fans of the Trungo's big band nights can rejoice. Big bands are back! Under new management, Leesburg Junction is operating in the downstairs space with Casa De Avila Tacos providing food and beverage. Catch Loudoun Jazz Ensemble and Swing Shift at this beautifully renovated space in the next month. Guitarist Grant McMillan,who you might have seen at the Loudoun Jazz Jam, presents a trio performance on August 2nd.

In case you missed it, The Dell closed their doors last month. (Silver Branch Brewing is set to open in that space in October). Although the Loudoun Jazz Jam is on hiatus, you can still enjoy the music at The Branch every 3rd Wednesday. You can see from the photo below that lots of folks came out last month to jam and listen. 

Lastly, keep an eye out for more concert and swing dance events in the fall. In the meantime, stay cool with one of the many jazz events hosted by Loudoun County Public Libraries. Scroll down to see the complete event listings.
