Announcing our 2026 scholarship season

The Loudoun Jazz Society is offering two scholarships this year. The first is a college scholarship in the amount of $1,000. The second is a scholarship to the George Mason Jazz Camp ($495 value) provided through the generous support of the Webber Jazz Fund.

Applicants will be voted on by the LJS Board of Directors. The deadline to submit all required materials is Sunday, June 7th, 2026.

To be considered for the Senior Scholarship, the applicant must:

  • Be a high school senior (public school, private school, or home school program).

  • Demonstrate that they have been actively involved in music.

  • Write a brief essay about “What inspires your interest in jazz and why?” (250 words or less, single spaced, 12pt font)

To be considered for the Jazz Camp Scholarship, the applicant must:

  • Be a middle school or high school musician (public school, private school, or home school program).

  • Be available to attend the Mason Jazz Camp from Monday, June 22nd to Friday, June 26th. Information about the camp is available here: https://music.gmu.edu/visit-us/mason-jazz-camp

  • Write a brief essay about “What inspires your interest in jazz and why?” (250 words or less, single spaced, 12pt font)

Additionally, applicants may choose to:

  • Provide one (1) recommendation from a teacher/instructor/mentor.

  • State their current high school GPA.

  • Submit a link to or file of a performance.

This scholarship awards are guaranteed and will be announced in mid-June.

Applications are open to any Virginia resident. Preference will be given to those who reside in Loudoun County, or who have actively participated in Loudoun Jazz Society events in the past.
