From the Barns of Rose Hill website:

In 1960, Duke Ellington and his longtime collaborator Billy Strayhorn put a jazzy spin on Tchaikovsky’s beloved The Nutcracker, transforming the ballet’s familiar melodies into a swinging big-band suite full of playful rhythms and musical surprises.

This holiday season, the Winchester Jazz Collective brings this festive classic to the Barns of Rose Hill for an evening of seasonal cheer. Led by Shenandoah University’s Matthew Niess, the ensemble features university faculty and student musicians in a spirited celebration of one of jazz’s most delightful holiday traditions.
