Sometimes, change unexpectedly emerges from small actions. The Battle of the Big Bands, conceived by Matt Trimboli in an LJS meeting, has now grown to include four regional jazz big bands. Our Loudoun Jazz Jam, started in 2018, has led to numerous offshoots, including the latest one at The Branch. A few chance encounters have led to a new partnership with the Potomac River Jazz Club.

Thank you to everyone who came out to the 3rd Battle of the Big Bands this past weekend. Pre-sale tickets, attendance, and musician participation were all the highest of any LJS event yet. Special thanks to Mike Thorp and JazzWorx for hosting, Matt Trimboli for organizing, and all our volunteers for making this event possible.

If you can't wait until Sunday for the next Loudoun Jazz Jam at The Dell, you can support the newest jazz jam in Loudoun. Tonight, head to The Branch in Leesburg to hear music from a great house band hosted by Lisa Fiorilli.

If you want to learn more about jazz, scroll down to see an excellent online presentation from renowned scholar Dr. John Edward Hasse hosted by the Potomac River Jazz Club. They have invited the Loudoun Jazz Society community to participate in these world-class online events.

Lastly, don't forget to save the date! We invite all LJS members to attend the Annual Members Meeting on November 12th. That is your chance to stay informed, meet others, and make your voice heard. Keep an eye out for an invitation in your email. Your idea could create a cycle of change for years to come.

Regards,
John Kocur
President, Loudoun Jazz Society
