April Newsletter

Happy April!

This month our nation celebrates Jazz Appreciation Month (JAM) and people around the world recognize International Jazz Day. Let's take this time to reflect on the meaning of jazz to our national heritage and as a path toward global peace. Scroll down to the bottom of the newsletter to learn more about JAM and Jazz Day.

We are excited to announce that the 2023 LJS Scholarship is fully funded! We couldn't have done it without the support of our donors. Thank you! If you know a high school senior who might be interested, please encourage them to apply through the application below.

I am happy to report that Alfred Yun's "Tribute to Thelonious Monk" was a great success. If you weren't there, you missed a great band, a cozy venue, and an appreciative audience. We hope this will open the door to more collaborations with the Musician's Union and Franklin Park Arts Center. Thank you to everyone who came to support Alfred.

Since Spring has arrived, you will notice that the calendar is starting to fill with outdoor jazz events. Continue reading to see how you can celebrate Jazz Appreciation Month by supporting local musicians in Loudoun County.
