Loudouners are hungry for the arts! That was the main idea we took away from the packed "Get to the Know the Arts in Loudoun" event hosted by Loudoun County this week. Particularly, there is great demand not being met for performing arts, such as music. The county has created a new office of the Arts under Parks, Recreation, and Community Services (PRCS). If you would like to stay in the know about quarterly meetings, the Arts Advisory Council, or other Loudoun Arts news, visit: https://www.loudoun.gov/arts

For those hungry for jazz, 2026 is shaping up to be a good year in Loudoun County. We already have a new and exciting event on the books. Reserve your tickets now for first ever "Swing Dance with Swing Shift" at the historic Douglass Community Center in March. Here is your rare chance to dance to live big band music. Experience this music in an authentic setting. See the flyer below for more details.

Additionally, look out for jazz events at Franklin Park Arts Center, such as the Quentin Walston Trio performance for their "Music for Dessert" series this coming Wednesday. You can also purchase tickets now for Tracy Hamlin's 5th Annual Sweet Jazz Festival in April.

Lastly, I posed a question to our officers that I would like to extend to you. Which jazz artists would you love to see in Loudoun County? If you have a suggestion, send it to loudounjazz@gmail.com. This could be the year that we make it happen.

Regards,
John Kocur
President, Loudoun Jazz Society
