March Newsletter
Back in 2023, many attended our fifth anniversary celebration which was also our first concert at Old Ox Brewery. That led to a successful run of All-Star Jams, Vocal All-Stars, and a Smooth Jazz Showcase. After an amazing sold-out Battle of the Big Bands last month, we sadly just learned that Old Ox Brewery will be closing their doors in April. Mary Ann and Graham Burns have been gracious hosts and helped us progress from hosting jam sessions to presenting concerts. We thank everyone at Old Ox Brewery, as we also seek a new venue for our concert series. If you have any leads, please send them to president@loudounjazzsociety.org
Before they close their doors, Old Ox Brewery will present one more jazz show on Tuesday, April 1st. Check out Swing Shift and see why their open rehearsals at Trungo's have been so popular.
In the meantime, you can still keep enjoying our monthly jam session at The Dell. This month, we welcome students and faculty from George Mason University. Come see some bright jazz stars of tomorrow and participate in another great Loudoun Jazz Jam. Thank you all for continuing to make the jam a great hang.
Speaking of jazz stars of tomorrow, we are also in the middle of our annual scholarship drive to support a high school senior continuing in music. You can contribute directly to the LJS Scholarship Fund at the link below or apply for the scholarship through our website.
Lastly, don't forget to purchase tickets for Tracy Hamlin's Sweet Jazz Festival. Hear local favorites Caleb Nei and Eric Byrd, in addition to nationally renowned acts such as Eric Essexand Oli Silk (not to mention the wonderful Tracy Hamlin herself).
