January Newsletter

Happy New Year! This past year has been a busy one for jazz in Loudoun County. Here is a quick list of what your support of Loudoun Jazz Society has made possible:

• 12 monthly jam sessions at The Dell

• 3 Old Ox Brewery Concerts (including the memorable Battle of the Big Bands)

• 2 Musician's Union co-sponsored events with Alfred Yun at the Douglass Center and Frankli n Park Arts Center

• 1 Virginia Commission for the Arts sponsored masterclass with the Quentin Walston Trio

• 1 LJS Scholarship (to the talented Eliza Prymack)

We look forward to seeing you in 2025 at one of our upcoming events. You can RSVP for Quentin Walston's next installment of the "Art of the Jam," or purchase your tickets for the epic Battle of the Big Bands below.

Congratulations to our newest officer, Virginia Keane. She will be taking over the role of Secretary for Lisa Fiorilli, who has dutifully served for two years. Not only does Virginia bring valued experience in Project Management, she is also a fine singer (who you may have heard at one of our recent jams). Thank you to all our officers, past and present, and all our volunteers who make this organization possible!

Want to make a wider impact? You can sign up for a Public Input Workshop for the Comprehensive Arts Plan and advocate for important issues such as county-sponsored music events, fair wages for musicians, and much-needed rehearsal space. This is a great chance to tell our county leaders about the value of the arts, in particular America's music — jazz.

Regards,
John Kocur
President, Loudoun Jazz Society
