May Newsletter
I recently had the pleasure of traveling to Luxembourg for work around the time of International Jazz Day. Oh, how enthusiastically they received the music! I learned that the small country robustly supports the arts through inexpensive music lessons for all, community ensembles, and local concerts. Would you believe music conservatory costs 200 euros a year? Our Loudoun Jazz Society works to fill needs in our county by connecting music stakeholders, business owners, and governmental agencies. Let us treasure this great American music as much as the Europeans do.
May will be a jazz-filled month. A few local business have taken up jazz such as Marie de la Fleur and Pazzo Pomodoro. Check out and our Instrumental All-Stars at Art in the Burg on May 11.
Our LJS Presents series continues with another round of Vocal Jazz All-Stars at Old Ox Brewery on Friday, May 24. Tickets are on-sale now. Let's support our singers like we turned out for the Battle of the Big Bands.
Lastly, we are still accepting donations and applications for the 2024 Loudoun Jazz Scholarship. Click here for more information on how to contribute or apply.
As always, check out the calendar for all of the upcoming jazz in Loudoun County.

John Kocur
