Happy Jazz Appreciation Month (JAM)!
Imagine a group of 30 people in a comfortable space listening to mint condition Blue Note records from the 1950s on incredible audio equipment. I actually witnessed this here in Sterling, VA on March 30th at Alma Music & Audio, a hi-fi lover's dream come true. The owner, Alex Suify, plans to host many more jazz listening parties featuring records from Impulse!, Atlantic, and Prestige labels. If you love classic jazz, you won't want to miss these events. Also, did you know that there is a D.C. Hi-Fi Group? Well, now you do!
Local superstar Tracy Hamlin will be presenting her Sweet Jazz Festival on April 19th and 20th. It is going to be one of the biggest jazz events of the year. Get your tickets now. If you are interested in volunteering to help at the event, email volunteer@loudounjazz.org to sign-up.
On the LJS front, there is so much to look forward to in the next month. Our jam returns to The Dell on the 3rd Sunday, we will be accepting applications and donations for our Annual LJS Scholarship, and you can join us for another edition of Loudoun Jazz Vocal All-Stars at Old Ox Brewery on May 24th. See you on the scene!
