December Newsletter

This has been a year of great growth for the Loudoun Jazz Society. At the Annual Member meeting in November, I shared this list of accomplishments in 2023:

  • Presented first Old Ox Brewery concerts:

    • LJS All-Stars in May

    • LJS Vocal All-Stars in September

  • Helped secured funding from the Musician's Union Performance Trust Fund for two concerts by Alfred Yun's Quartet:

    • Franklin Performing Arts Center in March

    • Douglass Center in September

  • Hosted twelve Jam Sessions at Chefscape/The Dell

  • "Bird Lives!" presentation at Brambleton Library

  • Presented a jazz quartet at Goose Creek Village Music Festival

  • Awarded $1,000 Scholarship to graduating high school student

  • Invested in pro audio equipment for jam session

  • Offered new merchandise to promote jazz and build the audience in Loudoun County

Many people came together to make this all happen. Our officers Caleb Nei, Lisa Fiorilli, and Rob Maletick work countless hours to take care of business. Our gracious volunteers Virginia Keane, Kate Sammons, Rita Sheehan, and Bob Eland serve our constituents in many ways. Matt Trimboli acts as our musical director wearing many hats. Josh Endo from Key Studios is making our jam sessions sound better than ever. And most importantly, all of our donors, audience members, and musicians build the community that is the Loudoun Jazz Society.

Next year looks to be even more exciting. Save the dates for next year’s Old Ox Brewery concerts:

  • Friday, February 9th, Battle of the Big Bands

  • Friday, April 19th, Jazz Appreciation Month event

  • Friday, September 20th, TBA

May your last month of 2023 be filled with great music and good company.
