June Newsletter

One door closes, another opens.

We were saddened last week to hear the news that the Leesburg Jazz Festival is canceled this year. We were looking forward to supporting that event. Although live music is returning after the pandemic, the conflict in Ukraine coupled with runaway inflation is dampening the entertainment industry. Our struggles are not yet over. Thank you to everyone who agreed to volunteer. There will be more events in the near future where you can help accomplish our mission of improving the quality of life in Loudoun through jazz.

In other news, you may be pleased to hear about two educational initiatives in the works from the Loudoun Jazz Society. The first will be an opportunity specifically for young people to experience the joy of playing jazz under experienced mentors. You can look out for an announcement about that soon.

Second, you can find out the recipient of the 2022 LJS Scholarshipat the next jam session. Thank you to the generous donors that made this possible. You are helping pass on the tradition of jazz to the next generation.

Our next jam session coincides with both Father’s Day and Juneteenth. That’s two good reasons to gather together in jazz. Come enjoy a cocktail, or smoke a cigar outside, and celebrate on June 19th. Chefscape is always a family-friendly experience.
