The Grant MacMillan Trio is a straight-ahead jazz ensemble featuring many student and professional musicians, providing a unique and modern, yet accessible sound. The trio is comprised of guitar, bass, and drums, often with a featured soloist. Selections include arrangements of various jazz standards, popular music, and original compositions.
Amazing trumpeter, composer, and educator John D’earth has been an inspiration to countless musicians through his time as Director of Jazz Performance at UVA. He has played with many timeless artists such as Buddy Rich, Pat Metheny, John Scofield, Bob Moses, Eddie Gomez, and pop stars such as Dave Matthews and Bruce Hornsby.
